Old scars (one year or older) can be difficult to treat and results can vary based on the age and severity of the scar. However, gradual results are possible with long-term, consistent treatment.

Coupling your DNA Repair Complex regimen with a skin-resurfacing treatment, such as a chemical peel or microdermabrasion, is a technique that Dr. Suzman recommends to more rapidly improve the appearance of older scars.

Yes. When skin and scars heal naturally, the color often changes as the phases of healing take place. These phases of healing are normal, and depending on the severity of the damage, can take up to 9 months to complete.

It is safe to use DNA Repair Complex twice daily during all phases of healing once new skin has formed. 

DNA Repair Complex has been shown to dramatically improve the look of scars, especially newer ones. As long as your skin has partially healed (and the incision is no longer an open wound), you should see improvement to your injury after several weeks of twice-daily application. Of course, we always recommend consulting with your surgeon before starting a new routine.

Many customers choose to apply DNA Repair Complex after prescription products, like tretinoin and RetinA, to help reduce sensitivity, irritation, and inflammation. However, as every person is different and has different skin needs, we recommend consulting your dermatologist or medical professional before including DNA Repair Complex with the use of your prescription products.

Preparing your skin pre- and post-procedure can help maximize results from in-office treatments and cosmetic procedures, such as microneedling, chemical peels, laser treatments and more.

By using DNA Repair Complex prior to treatments, the skin is more likely to experience less sensitivity associated with a cosmetic procedure. We recommend using DNA Repair Complex for at least 7-14 days pre-procedure. 

Use DNA Repair Complex as a post-procedure serum to support skin recovery and reduce downtime. Always follow your provider's post-treatment instructions for the hours and days following your procedure. Once cleared to use your regular skincare routine, you can begin applying DNA Repair Complex to the treated area.

DNA Repair Complex should not be used on open wounds or if the skin is actively flaring up due to eczema or other inflammatory conditions. You may begin application only after all scabs fall off naturally and stitches are removed. Once the skin has closed up, you can apply DNA Repair Complex to the affected area(s) twice daily.

The powerful formula inside our standard 15 ml bottle and 120 ml Pro bottles are the same – the only difference is the size of the bottles.

Why you’re using DNA Repair Complex, as well as the size of the area you’re treating, will determine how long a bottle of DNA Repair Complex may last. Our 15 ml bottle will last about 30 days, while our 120 ml Pro bottle will last between 90-120 days.

When treating a single area like a small scar, apply one pump to the affected area twice daily. For those integrating into a daily skincare regimen for use on the face, neck and décolleté, we recommend one pump of product for each area, applying morning and evening. If you’re using the treatment on more than one area, we suggest DNA Repair Complex PRO, which will last you significantly longer.

If using DNA Repair Complex as part of a skincare routine, let it absorb into the skin before applying other products. Because the formula dries so quickly, it’s ideal to layer under other products, from thinnest, to thickest.

Rarely, some have experienced the Lapachol in DNA Repair Complex oxidize and change color when exposed to high concentrations of zinc oxide, as is present in certain SPFs. When DNA Repair Complex is applied with a zinc oxide SPF, a color change may occur, resulting in pink or redness on the surface of the skin. This is due to the oxidation of lapachol’s phenols and is nothing to be concerned about. This is a natural process and, though it can be odd looking, is harmless and does not change the effectiveness of DNA Repair Complex. 

To avoid this color change, DNA Repair Complex should be fully absorbed into the skin before applying a zinc oxide-based sunscreen.

Yes! You can wear Restorative Lip Treatment on its own or underneath any of your favorite lipsticks, stains, glosses, balms or oils.

If you’re using a lip SPF that’s a cream, lotion or balm formula, apply Restorative Lip Treatment prior to SPF. If your SPF is a gloss formula, apply Restorative Lip Treatment after.
