A Dermatology PA-C’s Recommended Post-Procedure Regimen

Molly Orden, PA-C, shares her absolute must-haves for post-procedure care! Learn more about her recommendation for post-treatment protocols and why she prefers DNA Repair Complex.

Molly’s Ultimate Post-Procedure Protocol

“I try to keep post-procedure skincare fairly simple! Here’s my preferred regimen for daytime.

  • Use your gentle cleanser
  • Gently pat your face dry
  • Apply the RescueMD DNA Repair Complex
  • Apply a moisturizer
  • Apply SPF (50+)

My preferred post-procedure regimen for nighttime is the same minus the SPF! Also, if they're particularly dry and flaky after CO2 or another procedure, I will also have them put a little Aquaphor on top at night and go to bed!”*

Her Favorite Cleansers

“A gentle cleanser such as CeraVe Foaming Cleanser or CeraVE Hydrating Cleanser (these are my two favorites). I also love Vanicream or Cetaphil.”

Her Go-To SPF’S

“SPF everyday is an absolute must not just for post-procedure, but all the time. I tell my patients SPF absolutely every single day and I tell them there’s no such thing as too much sunscreen! I love the ColorScience sunscreen (I wear it everyday!). I have the Flex ColorScience, Classic, and then Glow. I typically will mix all three and or go for just the Classic but either way I recommend SPF and specifically SPF 50 or higher everyday and post-procedure.

In the summertime, I really advocate for a sun hat, sunglasses, and physical barriers to protect the skin from the sun even further, and of course I always recommend reapplication of SPF.”

Her Ultimate Post-Procedure Serum, DNA Repair Complex

“I truly love DNA Repair Complex. I prefer it more so than other post-procedure skincare products because it is more hydrating to the skin and it layers really nicely under my moisturizer. I also think it just really works!”

Why do I like to incorporate DNA Repair Complex? Because it works!

“I do regular microneedling on my face often. I first tried DNA Repair Complex months ago when I just did regular microneedling (typically it takes me a bit longer to heal when I do microneedling with PRP versus just regular microneedling and I don’t put anything else on my face). I noticed that it takes an extra day or so for the redness to calm down. I used DNA Repair Complex the last time I did regular microneedling and I swear it was like nothing happened! I healed so quickly. I was the least red I've ever been and from that minute on I was sold on the product. I liked it so much that I continued to use it underneath my moisturizer in my skincare regimen.

I also thought it helped with my acne. If I have a pimple or breakout, I wash my face in the morning and then I spray some hypochlorous acid on my face (which I also love) and then put on my DNA Repair Complex, my moisturizer, and my sunscreen and I go about my day.”

I recently used it after my own CO2 laser and microneedling with radio frequency treatment… I healed so quickly from that treatment and I had very little downtime. I absolutely loved it.

"I've also used DNA Repair Complex after BBL Moxi laser which I absolutely love. I've also used it on patients when I brought it to the office. I put DNA Repair Complex on my mom after her microneedling frequency and CO2 laser treatment. It was the first time she's ever gotten anything done. I put it on her post procedure and then she sat in the front foyer of the office while she was waiting to go home and I was seeing other patients. While she was waiting, I came out and I saw my mom's face (this is only a few minutes after she got this treatment done) and her face looks so good! It was so much less red! While I don't want to say it looked like nothing happened (because we obviously just lasered her), it looked so good and it only been a few minutes. I absolutely love it."

"I recently used it after my own CO2 laser and microneedling with radio frequency treatment. Obviously after the treatment I was really red and I put it on right away. I could not have been more impressed or happy. I healed so quickly from that treatment and I had very little downtime and I absolutely loved it. The next day I was so much less red! The next evening I was able to go out to dinner and put on makeup and everyone I told was shocked that I just had this treatment done. I'm convinced that my rapid healing had a lot to do with the DNA Repair Complex and I'm sure I will fall more in love with it as I continue to use it.”

Why Do You Recommend Continuing With RescueMD DNA Repair Complex For Everyday Skincare?

“I love it! I love the way it feels underneath my moisturizer and that it is a multitasking serum with powerful ingredients. It's silky, hydrating and I love the way it feels on my face. It's absolutely one of my favorite things and new additions to my skincare regimen.”
